future"We may be a small school, but we are all heart", said one of our former graduates, Dor Hadad, while we were on a trip to Israel. And, for those who know us even for a little, this thing is surely clear. We put our hearts into everything we are doing: teaching, learning, having fun, participating in various competitions, doing charity work, and the list could go on and on.

Rewarding those who work and learn very much represents one of the special traits our school has. They do it for themselves but also for the good name of our institution. Thus, this year, in the light of a great tradition we have, three of our future-graduates from the eighth grade, Irina-Asia Asandi, Andrada Pantelimon and Victor Vescu (and, believe me, the order is completely random) have just been told by Mrs. Tova Ben Nun-Cherbis, the President of the complex, that they will be able to enjoy a full scholarship for the whole high-school time. Even though the decision was not difficult to foresee, the students, their families and the teachers were happy to find out about it.

Here are a few thoughts of our scholarship winners:

“I was born on a beautiful day, as a cuddly little baby, who didn’t know what the future held. I came to The Lauder-Reut Educational Complex in the first grade and I have been studying here ever since. I’ve been extremely pleased with the knowledge I have gained and with my results. In this school, I have made awesome friends and I have had the chance to work with people who weren’t only teachers, but also true mentors and examples I look up to. I am determined to continue my studies in this school, since I know how well prepared students are, becoming ready for a career and, what is even more important, ready for life. I also find the extracurricular activities that the Lauder-Reut high-school offers, extremely useful and interesting. I honestly cannot wait until the next ‘2Day Ambassador’ project and also the Cannes festival. I am looking forward to participating in the debate club as well as other new and challenging activities such as a drama club. All in all, it is a great privilege for me to win a scholarship at The Lauder-Reut Educational Complex.” (Andrada Pantelimon)

“I have often been asked about my opinion regarding the difference between public and private schools and education in general. Well, the truth is that I don’t really know what to say, since I have never studied in a public school. I started first grade at The Lauder-Reut Educational Complex and I’ve been studying here ever since. I can honestly say that the thought of moving to another school has never crossed my mind. I could not imagine myself learning, having other classmates and other teachers. The thing I like most about our school is the way we are taught to understand and respect other cultures. Whenever someone asks me where I go to school, I am proud to say the name Lauder-Reut.” (Victor Vescu)

“I have been a student in this school for the last 10 years, and I can honestly say that I wouldn't be who I am today if it hadn't been for these years in Lauder. Quite recently, I have begun to realize what it really means to be part of this: it means being part of a group of people - of friends, I might say - who have a real chance of having a brilliant future and career, thanks to this school. But despite the high level of academical teaching, Lauder has given me something else: I have had the amazing opportunity of meeting really great people - both teachers and students - who have had a real influence on me in all those years, which helped me find myself and become the person I am right now.” (Irina Asandi)

On the other hand, The Lauder-Reut Educational Complex organized, in May, the fourth edition of our program called “A Chance for Your Future” (“O șansă pentru viitorul tău”). This is a program that we established four years ago, together with the 3rd District City Hall. It consists in offering ten of the best students in the third district, the chance to become part of the Lauder-Reut family for the whole period of their high-school.

We felt really good and proud, to have 37 applicants for the 10 scolarships this year, who were ready to undertake a difficult addmission exam! It consists of two tests: an interview, in both Romanian and English, and a written three-hour paper in Romanian, Maths and English. It is definitely not an easy test that they need to take and the students who managed to pass it last year can prove it. Here are some of their thoughts on what this scholarship means to them and on what it feels like to be part of our school:

“I have never thought about coming to the Lauder-Reut Educational Complex. From the first moment I heard about the amazing projects done by this school, I knew here is my place.

In this school, I found a lot of people, teachers and others, who focus on each of us, on what we like to do, on what we are good at.

I've discovered what diplomacy is and I’ve started to understand the international relations. The visit to the embassies opened my mind, having the opportunity to see what an ambassador or a press officer does and what an embassy does in normal situations.

With the help from my media teacher, I managed to win the third place in a photography contest from one of the universities in Bucharest.

As a final word, I encourage everybody to come to Lauder school, both for the formal and informal education. You definitely won't regret it.” (Radu-Bogdan Udroiu, 9th grade)

Indeed, the constantly growing number of applicants for this program, endorses the quality of education that our school offers.

Nonetheless, it indicates the level of involvement of the District 3 Municipality, in the community educational service. Mayor Robert Negoita personally, has supported this program from the very beginning, and has served the opening of the 20014-2015 edition in May, when he met and discussed with the students and their families, about the opportunity to study at Lauder-Reut high school.
